April showers are still falling

By

Kingfisher received another 3.25 inches of rain during a five-day time span, including .7 inch measured Tuesday morning by Local Weather Observer Steven Loftis.

The rainfall continued to soak grain fields, lawns, gardens and pastures.

The rains brought the April rainfall total in Kingfi sher to 6.57 inches and the year-to-date total to 10.93 inches.

The rain put local crops in prime shape for their march toward harvest.

Fields scheduled for harvest all appear fully headed out and the fields scheduled for graze-out gained additional foliage with stocker cattle showing rapid gains.

Mesonet readings for the past week showed 2.78 inches at the Kingfisher site, 2.12 inches at Watonga, 1.46 inches at Guthrie, 2.40 inches at El Reno and 2.43 inches at Marshall.

The recent weather systems have varied from normal patterns with the heavier rains falling in the central and western portions of the state from Texas to Kansas. Ringling in southern Oklahoma registered 6.60 inches of moisture up to Tuesday morning.

The local forecast calls for the possibility of additional rain through Thursday evening.
