Baby’s death ruled murder; pair arrested

By

A Warr Acres daycare owner and her boyfriend were arrested last week in the death of a 6-month-old baby boy with local ties.

Kelly Knipfer, 28, was arrested on complaints of first-degree murder and failure to report child abuse or neglect in connection with the death of Liam James Farrar.

Knipfer’s boyfriend, Ethan Dane Lee, was arrested on complaints of child abuse and possession of child pornogrpahy.

Both are being held without bond at the Oklahoma County Jail.

Liam, the son of Daniel and Alyssa Farrar of Piedmont, died Feb. 27 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, where he had been hospitalized since Feb. 21.

The baby was reported to be unresponsive when he was rushed to the hospital from Kelly’s Kids Daycare, located at 7204 N. Norman Road, Warr Acres.

The State Medical Examiner’s Office ruled last month that the baby’s death was a homicide caused by abusive head trauma.

The daycare center’s operating license had been revoked by the state Department of Human Services in December, but was allowed to continue operating while the revocation was under appeal.

Daniel Farrar is a 2008 graduate of Kingfisher High School and works for Drilling Fluids Technology.

An online GoFundMe account entitled “Liam Strong” is still accepting donations to help the family with medical and other expenses.
