Beginner, advanced barn quilt workshops planned

The Chisholm will hold two of its popular beginner barn quilt workshops on Friday, June 7, and Saturday, June 8.

It will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m each day. Participants only need to attend one class.

It will also host a twoday advanced barn quilt workshop Friday, July 12, and Saturday, July 13.

It will also be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Barn quilts are squareshaped boards painted to resemble a quilt block and then put on buildings.

They have evolved into a rural development initiative to boost tourism in communities.

Oklahoma State University Extension educator Lindy Peterman will lead both workshops.

Participants at both workshops will complete a barn quilt to take home.

Registration is required and classes for each workshop are limited to 24 people.

The cost for the beginner workshop is $60 and includes lunch.

The advanced workshop is $85 and also includes lunch.

The workshops are for adults or teens attending with an adult.
