Biehler named to executive post at Florida health system
Dr. Jefry Biehler, 61, a Florida doctor with Kingfisher County roots, has been appointed executive medical director of quality for Nicklaus Children’s Health System in South Florida.
Biehler is the son of Dr. Larry and Arlene Biehler, both of whom are Omega High School graduates who currently live in Oklahoma City.
Dr. Larry Biehler was an Oklahoma City pediatrician until his retirement, then served as head of Medical Missions for Feed the Children before stepping down for health reasons.
At that time, he began the Feed the Children Eye Clinic Mission which visits different Oklahoma towns each month to provide and fit new prescription eyeglasses for residents who could not otherwise afford them. The program has been temporarily suspended since last spring due to the pandemic.
Biehler’s son Jefry graduated high school in Oklahoma City and earned an undergraduate degree from what was then Oklahoma Christian College in Edmond, followed by a medical degree from the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine.
He completed his medical internship, residency and chief residency at Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, followed by a fellowship at Children’s in pediatric medicine.
Concurrent with his fellowship program, Biehler earned a master’s degree in public health from the University of Oklahoma College of Public Health in Oklahoma City.
Biehler has been with the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital since 1993.
He’s held a wide range of leadership positions at the hospital, including associate director for the emergency department, medical director for resource management and physician adviser for case management
Biehler also currently serves as chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University.
He and his wife Paula live in Coral Gables, Fla, and are the parents of two adult sons, Lucas and Grant.
“We are delighted that Dr. Biehler has accepted this expanded role within our health system,” said Matthew A. Love, president and CEO of NCHS. “We look forward to his leadership in enhancing outcomes as part of our enduring commitment to putting patients and families first”
