KPS board to make several staff moves during September meeting
The Kingfisher Board of Education will make official on Monday a number of personnel moves, some of which are already in place.
The board is scheduled to convene at 7 p.m. at the high school cafeteria for its regular September meeting.
Among the items on the agenda is one to hire or name people to eight different positions:
• Alternative education director
• Gilmour principal
• Gilmour child nutrition cashier/office assistant
• KHS head boys and girls track coach
• Kindergarten teacher
• School-based social worker
• Teacher’s assistant
• Two special education paraprofessionals.
A retirement just as school was beginning necessitated the first two moves.
Longtime middle school math teacher Diana Weems announced her retirement, which led to a chain reaction of moves among the middle school and alternative education staff.
That led to Clifford Ben son, the Gilmour principal the last two years, taking over at the alternative education building and also helping with the transportation department.
Shane Hood is serving as the Heritage (third and fourth grades) and Gilmour principal.
The track position opened when Micah Nall resigned his coaching duties late last month (see Sunday, Aug. 30 edition).
The resignations of Weems and Nall are among those expected to be accepted at this meeting.
The agenda also calls for action on an agreement with the Department of Human Services for the school-based social worker prior to the move on a hire.
The district will also review and act on an estimate of needs for the 2020-21 school year. It has been prepared by the CPA firm of Britton, Kuykendall & Miller and approved by the county excise board.
Other items on Monday’s agenda include:
• A fundraiser request for Heritage library;
• District Alternative Education Implementation Plan; • Emergency services
• Emergency services plan for school activities;
• An agreement with the OSDE and Public Consulting Group for Medicaid billing services;
• Action on the district’s return to school/distance learning plan.
