Bringing in the harvest
Kingfisher registered a high temperature Thursday of 102 degrees – harvest weather for wheat growers.
A brief thunderstorm swept the area late Thursday evening, leaving three-hundredths of an inch of moisture locally, but elevator operators contacted reported no serious damage – just a little high wind.
Harvest is gathering speed across the county as fields reach full maturity.
Local Weather Observer Steve Loftis registered the high temperature reading at the National Weather Service station in Kingfisher.
Loftis, who also serves as the Kingfisher City-County Emergency Management director, said he had received no reports of damaging weather in the county.
The National Weather Service forecast for this area calls for hot – 94 to 101 degrees – and mostly sunny days through Tuesday with partly cloudy to cloudy nights.
