Burch is Hennessey town clerk
Shelley Burch was named town clerk by the Hennessey Board of Trustees during its Thursday evening, June12, board meeting.
Burch, who is also the Town Hall office manager, court clerk and code enforcement officer, was in the audience as usual at this month’s meeting.
She has worked for the town for 12 years and was treasurer from 2021 until last month.
Best known in the community for coming up with fun games and events for children and adults alike, she is a member of the Hennessey Lions Club. She has also been an organizer for the Reserve Police’s Christmas Angel project for many years.
Her husband is Bryan Burch, sewer superintendent for the Town of Hennessey, and a Hennessey Reserve Police captain.
The Burches have three children: Bryann (Logan) Walls, Sierra Burch, and Ryan (Mikaela) Burch, and five grandchildren: Cameron Walters; Madi, Kenzi and Holden Guffey; and Oliver Burch.
She graduated from Hennessey High School in 1992, received a certificate of master’s from Redlands Community College and has several certifications through the Town of Hennessey.
She replaces Katie Walters, a former town clerk and former Town Hall employee, who had been filling in as deputy clerk for the past month.
Walters has a full-time job and told trustees at Thursday night’s meeting she recently had to miss several hours during the daytime to work at Town Hall. Then Trustee Bert Gritz motioned to pay $20 an hour to the “Deputy Town Clerk and establish a rate of pay.”
That was approved in a 3-0 vote with Mayor Randy Bohnstedt and Vice Mayor John Peach also voting yes. Absent were Trustees Harold Shaw and David Jones.
Burch was also appointed in a 3-0 vote later in the meeting.
