Busy agenda on tap for KBE meeting

By

A busy agenda awaits the Kingfisher Board of Education on Monday for its February regular meeting.

The agenda calls for an executive session for evaluation and contract discussion of Superintendent Jason Sternberger.

The evaluation began at January’s regular meeting, but the board voted then to continue his current contract and complete this evaluation at this meeting.

The executive session also includes annual discussion on the employment of the district’s other administrators: Todd Overstreet, high school principal; Keith Campbell, middle school principal; Shane Hood, Heritage principal; Cliff Benson, Gilmour principal; Melissa Slezickey, counselor and assistant middle school principal; Jay Wood, assistant high school principal and athletic director; and Kristina Burnham, special education director.

In other personnel matters, board members will possibly vote on employment of two part-time school nurses.

Three patrons in the school district have signed up to address the board at the beginning of the meeting: April Lumpkin, Scott States and Mike Matthews.

The board will also review the district’s 2018-19 financial audit that was recently completed by Britton, Kuykendall and Miller CPAs.

There are also items on the agenda for action on the new high school parking lot and design development plans for the new seventh and eighth grade center.

Other items include approval for out-of-state trips for FFA and fundraisers for various school groups.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Board of Education Office, 602 W. Chisholm Drive.
