Canadian County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Shirley Lanning, 58, died in a two-car accident Friday, Feb. 14, on Northwest Expressway.

Investigators’ reports indicated that Lanning’s vehicle crossed the center line for unknown reasons and collided with an oncoming eastbound vehicle head-on.

The accident happened just west of the Kilpatrick Turnpike between Sara Road and Morgan Road.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Henderson Hills Baptist Church in Edmond.

Two persons in the other car were injured but their injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Oklahoma City Police Department investigated the accident, which was reported at 9:22 a.m.

Lanning had been employed by the department since 2014.
