Incumbent Kingfisher Board of Education member Carly Franks won re-election Tuesday to another five-year term, carrying 67.5% of the votes in a three-way race.

According to unofficial election results posted on the State Election Board website, Franks carried 537 total votes, to 226 (28.4%) for closest challenger Susannah Copeland, and 33 votes (4.2%) for Servrina Prim.

Although vote totals weren’t scheduled to be officially certified until after this newspaper went to press, Franks has cleared the simple majority threshold (at least 50% plus one vote) necessary to avoid a runoff election with her closest challenger.

Franks is nearing the end of her first five-year term and currently serves as school board president.

“I am excited to continue working on the projects we have started as a board and district,” Franks said after the results came in Tuesday night.

“I will continue to work hard towards our goals along with the other board members.”

“I believe we have the best kids in the state!” she added. “I appreciate everyone’s support.”

The county’s only other school board race will be decided April 7.

As the only two candidates who filed for Okarche Office 5, incumbent Stephanie J. Jeffrey will face challenger Rob Anderson on the April 7 ballot.

Candidates elected without opposition to other area school board seats include:

Lomega: Matthew Oppel.

Hennessey: Patrick S. Griffin.

Dover: Larry Harviston Jr.

Chisholm Trail Technology

Center: Mark Pringnitz.
