Cashion’s FFA named as 3-Star National Gold Emblem Chapter by National FFA Organization

The Cashion FFA chapter has been recognized in the 2020 National Chapter Award Program from the National FFA Organization.

The program recognizes outstanding FFA chapters from throughout the country that actively implement the mission and strategies of the organization.

These chapters improve chapter operations using the National Quality FFA Chapter Standards and a program of activities that emphasizes growing leaders, building communities, and strengthening agriculture.

Chapters are rewarded for providing educational experiences for the entire membership.

Chapters that received star ratings during judging this summer were recognized at the 2020 National FFA Convention & Expo, Oct. 27-29.

The Cashion FFA was a part of the growing leaders, building communities and strengthening agriculture categories to receive the National Chapter Award.

Each category had five activities each with three goals the FFA chapters had to complete in order to complete the National Chapter Award Application.

For the growing leaders category, our first activity included leadership where ten members of the Cashion FFA eighth grade ag orientation class attended the Glencoe eighth grade leadership conference.

In our second activity, the Cashion FFA president read one of the chosenbooks to a Pre-K class at Cashion.

For the final growing leaders activity, the Cashion FFA farm shop team participated in the Northern Oklahoma College Interscholastics for career success.

Cashion FFA members of the Agriscience class harvested, processed and made fresh pumpkin honey butter as a part of their food science lesson to start their building communities activities.

For building communities activity, two members of the Cashion 4-H and FFA livestock show team helped organize, meal prep and conduct the Booster Bash.

For Cashion FFA’s final growing leaders activity, a Cashion FFA junior designed and plasma cut a Cashion fire pit to be sold locally.

The final category is strengthening agriculture.

To start off the activities, Cashion FFA ag mechanic students presented the first of Wildcat Pride Awards to a senior at Cashion High School.

Cashion FFA members taught ag lessons to Cashion second graders to increase agriculture education awareness.

For the final activity the Cashion reporter oversees the layout, articles and pictures each week for the weekly newsletter that is posted to the Cashion FFA Facebook page and sent to the Remind App each week.

The Cashion FFA chapter is under the direction of Advisor Holly Drake.

Drake was recognized in August for the Northwest Area Outstanding Teacher Award from the National Association of Agricultural Educators.

The Cashion FFA chapter has 42 FFA members.
