The Cashion academic team has punched its ticket to the Class 3A state tournament.

The team took runner-up at last weekend’s Area 1 tournament held at Crossings Christian School in Oklahoma City to qualify.

Cashion won the its game against Hooker, lost the second game to Crossings and swept games against Watonga, Fairview and Morrison to secure its state berth.

The team, comprised of seniors Harrison Buck and Molly Jolliff, juniors Abe Ross, Jimmy Miller, Connor McCabe, Jayden Collier and Kaitlin Jolliff, and freshman Alyssa Davis, is 20-2 on the season.

This is the fifth year of academic team coaching for Kim Simmons and Teresa Karnes, who took the 2016-17 team to the Class 2A state tournament.

The Class 3A state tournament will be Saturday, Feb. 6, at Rose State College.
