Cashion FFA members find some Fall momentum

By

The Cashion FFA Chapter was preparing, competing and succeeding in September and October, finding fall momentum in a busy season.

Beginning in September, the freshman and eighth grade opening and closing ceremonies teams worked hard practicing and competing around the state.

Each team member memorized the part for a different FFA officer position – from president to sentinel – collaborating to perform a scripted meeting that mimicked the structure of a real FFA meeting.

Now that the season of competition has ended, here’s a recap of their results: • Ripley Leadership Contest: The freshman opening and closing ceremonies team placed third overall.

• Piedmont Leadership Contest: Both teams placed fourth in their rooms.

• Kingfisher Regional Contest: The freshman opening and closing ceremonies team placed third overall.

Additionally, several freshman FFA members competed in the Greenhand Quiz, where they were quizzed orally on FFA history, officer positions, symbols and important dates.

A recap of their results is as follows:

• Piedmont Leadership Conference: Members Tinley Roberts, Jaxton Bailey- Casey, Ashlynn Graham, Cora Graham and Grace LaBlue all made the Greenhand Quiz oral finals, placing in the top 10. Roberts was the overall Greenhand Quiz champion.

• Kingfisher Regional Conference: Five freshman members advanced to the oral Greenhand Quiz finals, placing in the top 10. Bailey-Casey was the fourth place finisher overall.

Lastly, eighth grade FFA members had the opportunity to compete in the team creed competition, where the team of five members each recited a paragraph of the “FFA Creed” by E.M. Tiffany.

They placed second in the Kingfisher Regional Contest.

The Cashion shooting team continued a busy season of competition.

Their results from past contests are as follows:

• Shoot for the Nations Contest: Third place overall for team members Jakob LaBlue, John Robinson, Nate Poindexter and Colby Swickey.

• Guthrie Booster Shoot: Cashion FFA’s junior team placed first.

• T&D Meats Shooting Contest: The senior team placed sixth and the junior team placed fifth.

• Northwest Area Sporting Clays Contest: The senior team placed fourth.

As fall competitions end, Cashion FFA members are already setting their sights on preparing for upcoming Career Development Events, leadership conferences and opportunities for growth in the winter and spring seasons.

Members continue to gain momentum, their dedication building a foundation for success that will continue into the new year and beyond.
