Cashion hires new fire chief at board meeting
Kingfisher County commissioners approved suspending money or making purchase orders for the Cashion Fire Department at the request of the Town of Cashion at its weekly meeting Monday.
District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss, who moved for approval, said a reorganization was under way.
A Cashion spokesperson said a meeting of the town board was planned Monday evening to consider appointing a new fi re chief and that after the appointment the financial arrangement would return to normal.
Clayton Hill has served as interim Cashion Fire chief, offi - cials reported.
The commissioners approved changes in receiving and requesting officers for two departments at the meeting.
David Wilson and Clayton Hill were removed as requisitioning officers and Greg Smith, Michael Hall and Scott Hill were removed as receiving offi cers for Cashion Fire Department with the added note that replacements will be named at a later date.
At the Cashion board of trustees meeting Monday evening, Tim Townsend, who has 18 years service with the Oak Cliff Fire Department, was named to succeed Hill as chief of the Cashion Fire Department.
For Commissioner District 3 Max Rother was appointed requesting official and removed as receiving officer and Steve Petty was named receiving officer and Shane Yost was taken off as requesting offi cial.
A contract between the Kingfisher County Health Department and Anahi Lopez Valle was approved naming her as clerical interpreter at the rate of $15 per hour.
Monthly reports for sheriff, treasurer, county clerk, election board, assessor, court clerk and health department received approval and two county road pipeline crossing permits for Encana Energy Co. temporary water lines were approved as follow: 12-inch line one mile west and four miles north of Okarche and three-inch line located one mile west and six miles north of Okarche in District 3.
Attending the meeting besides County Commissioners Ray Alan Shimanek, District 2, chairman; Heath Dobrovolny, District 3, vice chairman, and Jeff Moss, District 1, member; were County Engineer Nik Smith, Pipeline Inspector Cody Murray and County Clerk Jeannie Boevers, minute secretary.
