National Disability Employment Awareness Month

The Center of Family Love is offering more career opportunities for individuals with disabilities than ever before beginning this National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM).

“Our Filters for Life business is expanding and we are thrilled to extend life-changing career opportunities to even more of our residents and to individuals with disabilities that live at home with their families,” said Center of Family Love CEO Debbie Espinosa.

Currently, the Center of Family Love’s Filters for Life vocational program provides full-time careers for many of its residents, and a handful of non-resident adults with disabilities, building heat and air fi lters.

New corporate partnerships with Filters for Life will open up an additional 20-40 full-time positions and even more part-time positions for CFL residents and individuals living with disabilities in the surrounding communities.

Just like the vocational programs and partnerships at the Center of Family Love, NDEAM has a rich history of progression.

In 1988, Congress shifted the focus of a previously existing handicap employment awareness week in order to broaden the national awareness on the importance of providing equal career opportunities for people with all types of disabilities by dedicating the month of October as NDEAM.

“Everyone should be given the opportunity to work,” said Espinosa. “Our priority is to empower those with disabilities to gain independence and to have pride in their careers. We are so grateful for the countless people who have gone before us to make these dreams a reality.”
