Chamber’s holiday kickoff event will feature Express Clydesdales

Kingfisher is going to have some rather large guests at this year’s Holiday Open House event.

The Express Clydesdales will be in town this year for a new spin on the Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce’s annual event to open the holiday season.

Chamber Manager Shauna Rupp delivered the news Wednesday during the chamber’s quarterly luncheon held at Cimarron Electric Cooperative.

Rupp ran down the list of upcoming events the chamber is sponsoring in the coming months for the more than 50 people who attended.

The Holiday Open House will be Nov. 1 this year.

“I realize this is earlier than we normally have it,” Rupp said. “But when the Express Clydesdales people say they can be there Nov. 1, you have it on Nov. 1.”

Retail merchants will have their open houses from noon to 4 p.m. or even later if they choose.

That will lead to another new feature this year, a Christmas tree lighting just outside of City Hall on Main Street.

That’s where the Clydesdales will make their appearance.

Other upcoming events include:

• Krazy Days downtown merchant sales, townwide garage sales and Kool Cars and Chrome on Aug. 1;

• Back2School Bash at Shaw Park from 4-7 p.m. on Aug. 19, an event that is still pending;

• Chamber golf tournament on Sept. 21;

• Chamber luncheon on Oct. 28;

• Downtown trick-ortreat on Oct. 30;

• Small Business Saturday on Nov. 28;

• Christmas parade and fireworks on Dec. 5.

Rupp also recapped the chamber’s recent success with its “Grand Day in Kingfisher” event in which it held ribbon cutting ceremonies for multiple businesses on July 15.
