CHS: Value of co-ops shows in relationships formed

During October, CHS is joining cooperatives across the U.S. to celebrate Co-op Month.

The entire cooperative system is committed to supporting and strengthening owners and communities with diverse ideas, equity and inclusion.

“The value of cooperatives comes through in the relationships we form with our owners,” says Jason Kroener, general manager of CHS ag retail locations across western Oklahoma.

“We put that cooperative spirit into action as our team works with farmers to help them grow their businesses and succeed.”

This past year, the CHS operations team has been working long hours to make sure the facilities and equipment are operated efficiently and safely to serve farmer-owners.

“The entire cooperative team is dedicated to developing a deep understanding of our growers’ operations and goals,” Kroener says. “We live and work alongside them, creating connections that empower agriculture.

CHS continues to expand its customer-focused retail solutions platform to meet the needs of its owners.

“This past year, we completed a dry fertilizer plant in Kingfisher and added a large tank for liquid fertilizer storage,” Kroener says. “These projects offer great speed and more capacity to serve our growers.”

In March, CHS completed a merger with Tillman Producers Co-op in Frederick, bringing those cooperative-owners greater access to the CHS system and supply chain and adding grain, agronomy, energy and cotton gin facilities to local CHS operations.

The focus going into 2021 will be on maximizing the use of those CHS facilities across western Oklahoma as efficiently as possible in a way that benefits farmer-owners.

“Just as our cooperative works to ensure our owners have what they need, when they need it, we also focus on supporting our rural communities,” Kroener says. “We support ag leadership and safety initiatives in those communities. We support local non-profits and work with colleges to fund scholarships for those pursuing careers in agriculture.”

CHS brings the benefits of connection to a global supply chain to owners’ farms and ranches. All with a smile and warm welcome. That’s true cooperative spirit.

“We are proud to be part of the cooperative system, supporting our owners and their families through the generations,” Kroener says. “We hope you’ll join us in celebrating Co-op Month.”
