City opens help line for services
The city of Kingfisher has created a system to identify specific community needs during the state of emergency and share that information with public and private resources.
City Manager Dave Slezickey said Monday that designated voicemail and email accounts have been set up for the use of individuals needing any type of assistance.
Those needs will then be shared daily with a list of local resources who are providing help, such as the Kingfisher Ministerial Alliance, Salvation Army and local food banks.
“It’s a central resource contact so that we can try to link needs with the available resources and take some of that coordination burden off the volunteers and agencies who are actually providing essential services,” Slezickey said.
The phone number is (405)375-5500 and the email is info@kingfisher.org. Messages left through either voicemail or email will be collected by city personnel and then referred to local resource providers.
“I know that we may not be able to resource every need, but we’re sure going to try,” Slezickey said. “If you need anything, please let us know, and we will get the word out. We have a very supportive community and a lot of people want to help their neighbors in the community.”
