Commissioners add permit requirements

By

Kingfisher County commissioners approved a revised pipeline crossing permit at their weekly meeting Monday.

District 3 County Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny said the principal changes in the permit include requirements to set pumps back from roadways at least five feet and to place flashing lights at the pump sites and to provide road signage warning of their existence.

County Engineer Nik Smith said pipeline operators will have a one-month grace period before the new permit forms become mandatory and that he will schedule a date and time to be announced for a meeting where the details may be reviewed and explained.

The deadline to begin using the new forms is April 1, Smith said.

Commissioners tabled action on accepting bids for a Cashion Fire Department tanker truck and two pieces of wild land fire-fighting equipment for the Omega Fire Department, pending receipt of additional documentation.

Commissioners called for bids on concrete repairs on NS 2740 Road (the Calumet Road). Bid specifications are on file in the office of County Clerk Jeannie Boevers.

Smith announced that a state continuing education meeting for individuals with chemical applicators’ licenses has been scheduled for Wednesday, March 6. District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss and District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek have licenses.

Shimanek reported that Dobrovolny has been named to a legislative council, representing county commissioners in Northwest Oklahoma, for the coming year.

The council will keep tabs on legislation affecting county government and provide information to the legislature as necessary.
