Commissioners hear COVID update from Steve Loftis

City-County Emergency Management Director Steve Loftis reported to county commissioners Monday that county coronavirus numbers had decreased to 70 but Hennessey had experienced another death, bringing the county’s fatality toll to 27.

He cases in the county at 70, including eight in Cashion, three in Dover, 11 in Hennessey, 31 in Kingfisher, four at Loyal and 13 in Okarche. Omega had none.

The county has experienced 2,221 cases of the virus to date with 2,151 recovered.

During the business portion of the meeting commissioners approved the following:

• Resolution declaring the following property of Big 4 Fire department surplus — 1984 Chevrolet engine truck, 1982 Western Star tanker truck, 2004 FordF-550 truck, 2005 Chevrolet suburban, 1997 Ford L9000 tanker truck, motor for pump and a winch.

• Pipeline road crossing permit for Recoil Oilfield Service — three-inch water line located 10 miles east of Dover in District 2. District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek reported a special meeting of the Circuit Engineering District 8 board of directors of which he is a member at 10 a.m. Tuesday, which he would attend, and Loftis reported he would attend a workshop for Northwest Oklahoma Emergency Managers in Guymon Tuesday through Thursday.

Chairman Heath Dobrovolny, District 3, announced the courthouse would be closed Friday in observance of Good Friday.

District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss, vice chairman, completed the board attendance.

Also present were County Engineer Nik Smith, Sheriff Dennis Banther and Deputy County Clerk Emily Lee as minute clerk.
