Commissioners sign agreement to replace bridge

Kingfisher County commissioners entered into an agreement with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for the construction of a bridge over Turkey Creek on EW 670 Road.

District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek said the agreement was a preliminary step to replace a structure 4.5 miles south and 2.4 miles west of Hennessey.

Estimated cost of the bridge is $894,000 of which ODOT will provide 80 percent.

Commissioners tabled a resolution on disposing of a 2005 model Chevrolet pickup used by the county engineer’s offi ce.

The Chisholm Trail Museum has indicated an interest in obtaining the vehicle and the delay is to allow time to work out details, District 3 Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny said.

Circuit Engineering District 8 Engineer Donnie Head attended the meeting to present a bill of $3,237 for 14 county bridge inspections, which was approved.

Commissioners approved soliciting bids for road and bridge materials and commercial roadway work for all districts. Bids will be received until 4 p.m. Nov. 22 and will be opened at the commission meeting at 9 a.m. Nov. 25.

Pipeline road crossing permits approved included:

• Devon Energy Production 12-inch 90 day water lines located 1.5 miles east and seven miles south of Omega and 1.5 miles east and six miles south of Omega, District 3.

• Complete Energy Services – two three-inch water lines located in the same area three miles north and four miles east of Loyal, District 3.

• H2 Services – 12-inch water line two miles south of S.H. 51 at the county line, District 2.

District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss chaired the meeting.

County Engineer Nik Smith announced the next safety meeting schedule on Dec. 3, 4 and 5.

County Clerk Jeannie Boevers served as minute clerk.

Pipeline Inspector Cody Murray also attended the meeting as did Sheriff Dennis Banther.
