Contract awarded for county bridge repair
A bid for a bridge repair project in Kingfisher County was one of three in House Majority Leader Mike Sanders’ district to be approved at last Monday’s meeting of the Oklahoma Transportation Commission.
The bridge and approaches on County Road EW-67 over Turkey Creek 2.5 miles west of the U.S. Highway 81 junction near Hennessey was accepted.
The low bid of $768,167.89 was awarded to K&R Builders, coming in under the engineer’s esti-mate of $859,181.88 and beating seven other bids ranging from $841,501.98 to almost $1.1 million.
The project is scheduled to take 120 calendar days.
Another project is to repair the bridge and approaches on County Road NS-254 over Weavers Creek, three miles south of the U.S. Highway 270 junction near Watonga.
The project is scheduled to take 90 calendar days.
The low bid of $641,853.60 was awarded to K&R Builders Inc. out of Wheatland.
Its bid came in under the engineer’s estimate of $727,117.50 and beat out eight other bids ranging from $676,755.40 to $850,857.70.
In Canadian County, crews will be making safety improvements to the centerline rumble strips and pavement markings along U.S. Highway 81.
The project stretches into other counties outside of House District 59.
The total cost is almost $1.2 million and was awarded to the sole bidder, Action Safety Supply Co. LLC out of Oklahoma City.
It came in just over the engineer’s estimate of almost $1.1 million.
The project is scheduled to take 30 calendar days.
Bids on these projects were opened Oct. 15.
“Transportation has been a priority throughout my time in public office,” Sanders said. “Keeping the residents of House District 59 safe and commerce moving is a top concern. I’m glad to see these most recent projects awarded toward that goal.”
