County’s health department hosts ‘pool school’ Thursday

By

The Kingfisher County Health Department will hold a “Pool Operator Training” on Thursday, April 6.

The training is from 1-4 p.m. at 421 W. Bowman Ave. in Kingfisher.

Attendees will learn information related to safe pool operations.

The training will be conducted by Victoria Hovell, a public health specialist specializing in public bathing who will share information regarding pool safety and maintenance.

The training is also open to anyone in Garfield, Major, and Blaine counties.

“OAC 310:320-3-2 states that public bathing places shall be maintained under the supervision and direction of a properly trained operator,” said Hovell.

“The pool operator training being offered at Kingfisher County Health Department is one way to fulfill this requirement and will provide pool operators with knowledge and skills helpful to the operation of pools. We welcome anyone responsible for the maintenance and safety of a pool to attend this class.”

Registration for “pool school” is requested and attendees can register by contacting the Kingfisher County Health Department at (405) 375-3008.

There is no cost for registration.

For those interested in pool safety and maintenance, but unable to attend the Kingfisher County Health Department Pool School, the Garfield County Health Department will be hosting a no-cost Pool School from 1-4 p.m. on April 26.

Other Pool School training will be offered at the Logan County Health Department on April 18.

A date for Canadian County has not been set yet.
