County continues gradual reopening; cases stay flat
The Kingfisher County Courthouse reopened Monday as scheduled.
City-County Emergency Management Director Steve Loftis reported that the county’s coronavirus count remained at 10 cases (all recovered) and the commissioner’s decision to open the courthouse, following state guidelines remained in place.
Commissioners, however, approved closing the courthouse next Monday for the Memorial Day holiday.
The courthouse will reopen for business the next day at the normal time and continue following the normal routine afterward, barring future outbreaks of the virus.
The county commission’s weekly meeting will be held Tuesday, rather than Monday.
Commissioners awarded contracts to two companies, which submitted low bids among 18 submitted on two phases of the refurbishment of the Kingfisher County Rural Water District No. 3 water tower.
The Ground Guys of Edmond won the first contract with a bid of $23,500. It calls for 4,000 linear feet of twoinch Class 200 PVC with valves, connections and all appurtenances.
Kinard Painting and Sandblasting Inc. of Wynnewood won the second contract with a bid of $88,300. It includes power washing the exterior, sandblasting the interior and repainting the interior and exterior of the eight-inch by 100-foot standpipe and 16-foot by 36-foot storage tank, providing temporary storage and connections and adding a man way to each tank and all appurtenances.
Later in the meeting commissioners approved the transfer of $9,590 from the general fund to the water district’s REAP grant fund account.
Commissioners approved soliciting bids for a new or used six-wheel-drive diesel motor grader for District 1.
Bids may be submitted to the office of County Clerk Jeannie Boevers until 4 p.m. June 12 and will be opened at the commissioners’ meeting June 15.
Markwest Energy received approval for three permits for county road crossings in District 3, all in the same vicinity one mile south and one mile east of Loyal. The permits are for a four-inch steel natural gas line, a 12-inch steel natural gas line and a four-inch steel oil line.
An emergency transportation revolving fund extension renewal with the board of county commissioners and the Oklahoma Cooperative Circuit Engineering District board also received approval.
Present for the meeting in addition to Commissioners Ray Alan Shimanek, District 2, chairman; Heath Dobrovolny, District 3, vice-chairman, and District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss, were Boevers as minute clerk, County Engineer Nik Smith, Pipeline Inspector Cody Murray, Sheriff Dennis Banther and Loftis.
