County declares disaster
Kingfisher County commissioners Monday declared a disaster in the county resulting from the severe winter storm beginning Feb. 8,
The declaration relates to a federal emergency declaration by President Joe Bided that authorizes the Department of Homeland Security - Federal Management Agency (FEMA)- to supplement state, tribal and local response efforts connected to the storm.
The declaration authorizes FEMA to coordinate all disaster relief efforts required to alleviate the hardship and suffering to the local population.
Commissioners also voted unanimously to initiate a “wooden child” abuse prevention project on the courthouse lawn beginning April 1.
