County designates Farm Bureau Week

Kingfisher County Commissioners Tuesday approved a proclamation designating Feb. 15-19 as Farm Bureau Week in Kingfisher County.

In other business, they accepted the low bids submitted by Cummins Equipment Co. on three equipment items.

District 2 (Ray Shimanek) accepted Cummins’ bid of $149,870 for a John Deere excavator with 2,388 hours and District 3 Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny approved purchase of an excavator with 2,574 hours use at a price of $149,870.

District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss purchased a loader at the low bid of $124,900.

Commissioners also approved the transfer of a 2004 Ford rescue truck from Loyal Fire Department to Big 4 Fire Department at a price of $50,000.

Big 4 Fire Chief Joseph Maschino and Loyal Fire Chief Richard Meyer were present for the meeting and signed documents completing the transfer.

Commissioners approved changes on rules for public service access drive installations, requiring all applicants to provide their own culverts and requiring corporate and company applicants to provide all of their supplies including culverts and cover material. Later in the meeting they approved an access drive for Tyler Davis, including a 24-inch culvert at a location on EW 843 .6 mile from NS2940 Road and north into the property.

Commissioners approved calling for countywide bids on oil and chip.

Sealed bids will be accepted until 4 p.m. on March 5 at the office of County Clerk Jeannie Boevers and will be opened at the regular meeting of the board of commissioners on March 8.

Bid packets will be available at the office of the county clerk.

A surety bid bond of 5% of the gross amount of the base bid will be required. Deposits will be returned to unsuccessful bidders.

The successful bidder will be required to provide a 100% performance bond, a 100% statutory bond and a 100% maintenance bond.

Road crossing permits were approved for the following:

• Devon Energy Production Co. – 12-inch lay flat line located three miles east of Omega, District 3.

• Ovintiv USA, Inc. – three-inch line, and three 12-inch lay flat lines in District 1, located five miles north and three miles east of Okarche.

• Recoil Oilfield Services – three-inch line in District 2 starting in NW SE Sec. 35-18 -6 and ending in SE SE Sec. 26-18-6.

• Public access drive for Western Farmers Electric Cooperative located at southwest corner of SW/4 Section 35-15-5 with one 18-inch by 85-foot and two 18-inch by 78-foot culverts.

• Traverse Wind Energy – power line from new wind farm in Blaine County passing through southwest Kingfisher County.

Commissioners approved changes in the Cashion Fire Department as follows: added Greg Smith as requestioning officer and removing Clayton Morse and Casey Billen as receiving officers and adding Jeremy Moore and Walker Piatt.

County Emergency Management Director Steve Loftis reported 111 active COVID-19 cases in the county including 14 at Cashion, five at Dover, 16 at Hennessey, 62 in Kingfisher, three at Loyal and 11 at Okarche.

He said 2,022 cases have been recorded in the county since the pandemic arrived with 21 deaths.

Monthly reports of the sheriff, county clerk, treasurer, election board, health department, court clerk and court clerk preservation fund received approval as did declaration as surplus of two printers in the engineer’s office and publication of county employee salaries.

Also present for the meeting were County Engineer Nik Smith and Pipeline Inspector Cody Murray with County Clerk Boevers as official minute clerk.
