Kingfisher County Extension will host a workshop on barn quilts later this month.

The workshop is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, July 26, at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds Exhibit Building.

There, participants will learn more about what barn quilts are and how to create one.

“Barn quilts are painted wooden squares that are hung on a barn or on a house,” said Lindy Hoel, Kingfisher County FCS Extension educator, who will present at the workshop.

It will also cover:

• How to successfully make a barn quilt;

• The materials used;

• Combining the right colors to make a masterpiece;

• How to register your barn quilt for the Oklahoma Barn Quilt Trail.

This meeting has a registration fee of $20, due at the day of the event and is open to the public.

Boards and materials are covered in the registration fee. There will be a potluck luncheon and refreshments will also be provided.

It is requested that those attending bring a hair dryer.
