County garnering more emergency supplies for agencies, schools

By

Kingfisher took the lead this week in number of active coronavirus cases in the county.

Kingfisher County Emergency Management Director Steve Loftis reported to county commis-sioners Tuesday that as of 8 a.m. the county still had 73 active cases of 463 cases reported since the pandemic began.

Kingfisher had 29 of the active cases, followed by Hennessey 17, Cashion eight, Okarche seven, Dover six, Loyal five and Omega one.

Loftis reported that additional preventive supplies had been authorized for Kingfisher County, which he would go to Clin-ton to get later in the week and then deliver them to emergency agencies and schools, including gloves and hand sanitizer.

In a 13-minute business meeting, commissioners replaced the late Ronnie Fry as receiving officer for the Omega Fire Department with Sid Smith, approved monthly reports for the offices of election board and court clerk’s offices, approved appropriations and transfers for the month of September and authorized solicitation of bids for printing election ballots for the 2021 year.

Bids on the ballot print-ing will be received until 4 p.m. Nov. 6 in the office of County Clerk Jeannie Boevers and opened at the regular county commissioner meeting on Nov. 9.

Attending the meeting in addition to Commissioner Jeff Moss, Ray Alan Shimanek and Heath Dobrovolny were Boevers as minute clerk, Loftis, County Pipeline Inspector Cody Murray and guest Montie Taylor.
