County OKS bridge, fence project bids

By

Kingfisher County commissioners accepted the low bids on two projects in District 1 at their weekly meeting Monday.

They voted to approve a bid of $169,543.96 from Redlands Contracting to widen a bridge about one-eighth mile south of S.H. 33 on Reeding Road and a bid of $17,731 from Affordable Fencing to build a chainlink fence and gate at the District 1 shop north of Kingfisher.

District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss recommended accepting the lowest of three bids submitted on each of the projects.

The commission also rejected bids submitted on two Wildlands fire fighting apparatuses for the Omega Fire Department on the recommendation of Omega Fire Department official Ronnie Fry who deemed both bids too high.

District 3 Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny joined Moss in making the action unanimous in the absence of District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek who was on vacation.

The commission approved lowering the speed limit on two sections of road in District 1 where repairs are under way.

They approved reducing the speed on EW 890 Road from 55 to 35 miles per hour from NS 2920 Road to NS 2940 Road and from 55 to 45 miles per hour on NS 2940 Road from S.H. 33 to EW 840 Road, a distance of four miles.

In other action, commissioners signed a schedule of Federal Awards, approved a letter of release to Alta Mesa releasing the bond that was issued for temporary water lines in Kingfisher County, a professional service agreement between the county health department and Adult Partners for Healthy Living Grant – Julie M. Myers, Liz Walter and Raelene Castillo, accepted an annual contract with Pittsburg County Regional Juvenile Detention Center (for keeping under-age detainees on an as-needed basis), declared a 1994 John Deere loader and Kenwood radio as surplus property for District 1, added Kimberly Ross as receiving officer for Chisholm Trail Museum and approved permits for county road pipeline crossings for the following:
