County OKs change orders for asphalt jobs

By

Kingfisher County commissioners approved change orders for asphalt overlays on two county roads – NS 2830 and EW 760 – at their weekly meeting Monday.

The change-orders authorize the delay of the work on which contracts were approved earlier this year until next spring due to the approach of cold weather, which is not favorable for asphalt paving work.

Commissioners approved several other actions, including those to accept a bid of $189,000 for a new water tender for the Big 4 fire department and to solicit new bids on a short block engine replacement in a Stewart Stevenson M1083A1 for Loyal Fire Department.

No bids were submitted on an earlier solicitation by Loyal Fire Department.

Joseph and Brady Maschino of Big 4 Fire Department recommended approving the truck bid for their department.

Mike Frey represented Kingfisher Rural Water District No. 3 to answer questions regarding installing water lines and repairing water towers for the district, which covers an area principally northwest of Kingfisher.

He said completing a loop from Brandon Yost’s house east to Williams corner would make the system more efficient.

Water tower work will include repainting the district’s two towers.

Commissioners voted to solicit bids for 37- and 41-inch steel pipe 5/16th inch in diameter for use at county road intersections.

District 3 Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny said the steel drain pipe, for which bids were solicited, holds up better under heavy truck traffic than corrugated tinhorns.

Commissioners also approved monthly reimbursements from the state for the election board and district attorney’s offices and an amended irrevocable standby letter of credit with Oklahoma Energy Acquisition, LP.

Commissioners approved four road crossing permits for Targa Resources, LLC, for 16-inch gas lines in District 3 but tabled action on a fifth one for a second time.

The lines were tabled at the preceding week’s meetings to acquire additional information.

The permits were granted for lines six miles west and two miles north of Okarche, six miles west and four miles north of Okarche, six miles west and three miles north of Okarche and six miles west of Okarche.

The crossing that was tabled for the second time is located six miles west and one mile north of Okarche.

Dobrovolny said the tabled permit is involved in a condemnation action in which the county is named as a defendant.

Road crossing permits also were approved for the following:

• Petro Land Services South – four-inch water pipe located six miles east of Kingfisher, District 1.

• McDonald Land Service – 12-inch water line located three miles west of Loyal, District 3.

• H.D.C. Ag, LLC – 60-day permit for four-inch and two-inch fresh water lines, one mile south of Dover, District 2.

• Complete Energy Services, Inc. – three-inch line three miles north and four miles east of Loyal, District 3.

District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek chaired the meeting in the absence of District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss who was involved with two major road projects.

County Clerk Jeannie Boevers served as minute clerk for the meeting.
