County OKs Turkey Creek engineering recommendation

Kingfisher County commissioners Monday approved a recommendation to the Oklahoma Department of Transportation that Circuit Engineering District 8 serve as consulting engineer for a bridge over Turkey Creek southwest of Hennessey in District 2.

Commissioners also approved Court Clerk Lisa Markus’ records management report for July as well as monthly reports for the court clerk and County Treasurer Robin Rother’s offices for the month of July and a solicitation for bids on a new pull-type water fillable smooth drum roller-packer for District 3.

Road crossing permits for pipeline in District 3 also received approval as follow:

• McDonald Land Services – two 90-day permits for 12-inch water lines located as follow: seven miles west and five miles north of Okarche and the second eight miles west of Okarche.

• Ovintiv – a permanent 16-inch water line located eight miles west and five miles north of Okarche.

Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co. received approval for an electric line crossing two miles south and three miles east of Dover in District 2.

Clay Vincent represented District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek at the meeting.

District 3 Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny presided at the meeting in the absence of Shimanek. District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss attended the meeting along with County Clerk Jeannie Boevers as minute clerk, County Engineer Nik Smith, City-County Emergency Management Director Steve Loftis and Brad Wittrock of Zyzer Asphalt and Construction, who sought clarification on an overlay project.

Loftis reported that the county has had 163 COVID-19 cases to date with 131 recovered and 32 active.

He also reported that a sixth grader in Kingfisher schools tested positive for the virus Friday.

He gave the following report on virus cases by community followed by the number active in parenthesis following:

Hennessey – 48 (14)

Kingfisher – 67 (12)

Okarche – 30 (4)

Dover – 4 (1)

Cashion – 13 (1)
