County opens bids for District 1 projects

By

Kingfisher County commissioners opened bids on two projects in District 1 and tabled them on the motion of District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss to allow additional staff study.

Three bids were submitted on a project to widen a bridge about one-eighth mile south of S.H. 33 on Reeding blacktop including: Downey Construction, $291,388.60; Redlands Construction, $169,543.96, and Wyatt Construction, $258,244.35.

Moss said the project would replace little more than a tinhorn but the existing structure is too narrow for the traffic the road now carries.

Three bids also were submitted on a project to build a chain link fence and gate at the District 1 shop.

Bidders included American Fencing, $34,930; Affordable Fencing, $17,731, and Jones Fencing, $34,803.

Commissioners approved soliciting bids for labor and materials for construction of a 60-foot by 70-foot driveway and sidewalks for the Dover Fire Department.

Bid specifications are available at the office of County Clerk Jeannie Boevers.

Commissioners tabled an agenda item for a second time regarding participating in the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s County Road Equipment and Machinery Fund. District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek explained the program provided a source of financing for county purchases.
