County opens oil, chip bids; approves pipeline crossings

Kingfisher County commissioners opened two bids on oil and chip work on county roads Monday, then tabled action for comparison study.

The bids, from Vance Brothers and Circle C Paving, involved a wide array and options regarding oil types, rock sizes and single and double applications. County Engineer Nik Smith will provide a compilation for consideration at a future meeting.

Commissioners tabled action on bids for fire-fighting equipment for Omega and Cashion fire departments at the departments’ request to allow additional time to prepare documentation requested by the commission.

They approved a request from the district attorney’s office to change the requesting officer from Charles Glass to Karen Volz. Volz is replacing Glass as acting ADA here while John Salmon, the permanent ADA, is trying a case in another county.

A resolution was approved to execute a project agreement to redo Main Street sidewalks from U.S. 81 east in cooperation with the Town of Okarche and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. The project does not require financial participation from the county.

Commissioners also approved three bid notices, one for concrete roadway repair on NS2740 (The Loyal-Calumet Road), for the purchase of a 2015 or newer road grader for District 3 and a third for repairs to the courthouse roof.

Two access drive applications in District 1 received approval, one for Oneok Gas Transportation in Sec, 20-15-5 and another for Markwest Oklahoma Gas Co. .3 mile west of the E 830 and N 2920 intersection.

Pipeline inspector Cody Murray said he had inspected each site and approved the requests.

Commissionersapproved pipeline road crossing permits for the following:

• Cimarex Energy – 12-inch water line seven miles south of Omega, District 3.

• Brickman Fast Line – four permits in District 1, including three-inch line eight miles east and one mile south of U.S. 81/Dover-Crescent Road Intersection, three-inch line eight miles east and two miles north of DC-81, three-inch line nine miles east and two miles south of DC-81 and a four-inch line nine miles east and three miles south of DC-81.

• Newfield Exploration –four applications for water lines in District 3, including 10-inch line six miles south and one mile west of Loyal, 10-inch line two miles east and two miles south of Loyal, 12-inch line six miles south of Omega and 12-inch line one mile east and three miles south of Loyal.

• Newfield Exploration – 12-inch water line three miles east and five miles south of Loyal, District 3.

• Newfield Exploration – 12-inch water line five miles north and two miles west of Kingfisher, District 3.

• Marathon Oil Co. – two 12-inch water lines, one located one mile west of Kingfisher, District 1, and one located two miles west of Hennessey, District 2.

• Select Energy Services – three-inch poly line located six miles south and one mile west of Hennessey, District 2.

Commission Chairman Jeff Moss, District 1, Vice-chairman Ray Shimanek, District 2, and member Heath Dobrovolny voted unanimously in favor of each action.

Also attending the meeting were Greg Fuller and Tim Ishmael representing Vance Brothers Paving, Calvin Mason, representing Tetra Technologies, and Jeremy Neff, representing Western Land Services.
