Kingfisher City-County Emergency Management Director Steve Loftis Monday gave an encouraging report regarding the coronavirus pandemic demands in Kingfisher County.

A guest at the weekly meeting of county commissioners, Loftis reported emergency supplies (masks, gloves, face shields and gowns) had been provided for all county fire departments.

He said the sheriff’s department was receiving its supplies from the state sheriffs’ organization.

Loftis advised he had an emergency stockpile on hand and was still ordering a few items to make sure he had enough if the need arose.

He cited state health department figures for virus cases and resultant deaths – 140 – but indicated the disease numbers continued light in Kingfisher County.

Commission Chairman Ray Alan Shimanek of Hennessey (District 2) conducted the regular meeting following Loftis’ report with District 3 Commissioner Heath Dobrovolny, vice chairman, and District 1 Commissioner Jeff Moss, member, joining Shimanek in making all actions unanimous.

Actions taken and approved included:

• Election board and district attorney state reimbursements for travel and telephone expense;

• Declaration as surplus a backhoe attachment purchased separately for a backhoe already declared as surplus for District 3;

• List of equipment sold last week at the Circuit Engineering District 8 auction at Elk City. Commissioners said they were pleased with prices received. Items sold at auction included a 2004 Ranco Trailer and 2008 Mack truck for District 1; 2005 Peterbilt truck, 2008 Volvo grader, 2005 Ranco trailer, John Deere tractor, 1979 Servis mower, and 2018 Freightliner truck for District 2, and a 2002 John Deere grader, 1996 John Deere backhoe loader and 2007 John Deere backhoe loader for District 3;

• A road crossing permit for Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co. on Mitchell Road, starting in the Northeast Quarter of the Northeast Quarter of Section 24-19-7;

• Supplemental modification agreement (CIRB project) over Uncle John Creek one mile north and 3.4 miles east of Okarche in District 1.

• Tabled action on burial expense for Richard Duhmal from Sanders Funeral Service, awaiting formal application.

Present for the meeting in addition to commissioners and Loftis were County Clerk Jeannie Boevers as minute clerk, County Engineer Nik Smith, County Pipeline Inspector Cody Murray and Sheriff Dennis Banther.
