County reducing speed limit south of Cashion
Kingfisher County commissioners Monday approved reducing speed limits from 45 to 30 miles per hour in housing developments south of Cashion.
The action reduced the speed on eight miles of county roads in the following locations:
• One mile on EW870 Road from NS2950 Road to NS2960 Road;
• Three miles on EW880 Road from NS 2990 Road to NS2960;
• Two miles on NS 2960 Road from EW890 Road to EW870 Road, and ,
• Two miles on NS2970 from EW890 to EW870.
Commissioners tabled action on a contract between Kingfisher County and Total Assessment Solutions Corp. in the amount of $55,000 for the 2022 fiscal year, on the motion of District 2 Commissioner Ray Alan Shimanek and approved a service contract for HVAC at the Kingfisher County Justice Center.
County Engineer Nik Smith said Sheriff Dennis Banther had signed off on the agreement.
Commissioners renewed a six-month bid list for road and bridge materials and commercial road work for all three county commissioner districts.
Road crossing permits were approved for Markwest Energy for a four-inch and a 12-inch permanent steel gas line, both located four miles east and three miles south of Loyal in District 3.
Chairman Heath Dobrovolny reported appointment to an ad hoc ACCO committee to study terms of the American Rescue Plan, which is scheduled to provide funding for counties.
Commissioners Jeff Moss, District 1, and Shimanek, District 2, joined Dobrovolny in making all actions unanimous.
Also present at the meet ing were John Storm, county budget maker, who was also to attend a meeting of all county officials to assist with developing office budgets, County Pipeline Supervisor Cody Murray and City-County Emergency Management Director Steve Loftis, who reported the following number of coronavirus active cases in the county as follow:
Cashion nine, Dover three, Hennessey 15, Kingfisher 37, Loyal three, Okarche 10 and Omega zero, a total of 77.
Loftis said county cases are continuing to fluctuate in line with the state’s experience. He said the county has experienced 2,156 cases to date with 37 deaths.
