County selects Kansas firm for blacktop work

By

Kingfisher County commissioners approved the construction contract and order to proceed for Circle C Paving of Goddard, Kan., at their weekly meeting Monday.

The action came after Circle C submitted a document agreeing to all county requirements.

The contract covers blacktop work for all three county districts. Work is not expected to begin until warmer weather arrives, which is conducive to best application of the oil and chip materials used.

Commissioners approved a resolution to dispose of several items of equipment belonging to Big 4 Fire Department, which had been declared surplus in the preceding week’s meeting, including a 1984 Chevrolet engine truck, a 1982 Western Star tanker truck, a 2004 Ford F-550 truck, a 2005 Chevrolet Suburban, a 1997 Ford L9000 tanker truck, a pump motor and a winch.

Monthly reports for the county assessor, sheriff, county clerk, health department, treasurer, court clerk and election office received approval as did three pipeline road crossing permits for Ovintiv and one road crossing permit for Oklahoma Gas and Electric Co.

The road crossing permits for Ovintiv – all temporary 90-day documents in District 3 – included the following: three-inch poly line four miles west and one mile south of Kingfisher, a 12-inch line six miles west and one mile south of Kingfisher and a second 12-inch line located one mile west and one mile north of Loyal.

The OG&E permit was for a line four miles east of Loyal.

City-County Emergency Management Director Steve Loftis reported a lower number of Covid-19 cases in the county as of Monday – 68 – with the cases by community as follow: Cashion eight, Dover four, Hennessey 13, Kingfisher 26, Loyal three and Okarche 14. Omega remained Covid free.

Sheriff Dennis Banther received approval to seek three phone bids for mowing equipment for the newly-completed Kingfisher County Justice Center (sheriff’s office and jail complex) at the south side of Kingfisher.

All County Commissioners were present – Heath Dobrovolny, chairman, Jeff Moss, vice-chairman, and Ray Alan Shimanek – and all actions were approved unanimously.

Also attending were County Clerk Jeannie Boevers, who served as official minutes clerk, County Engineer Nik Smith and Banther.
