COVID-19 claims 3rd brother

By

A third brother from an Okarche family became the county’s sixth victim of COVID-19 when he died from complications of the disease Friday.

The death of Nicholas “Nick” Annuschat, 59, followed on the heels of brothers Ron, 58, and Paul Annuschat, 68, who died the previous week.

Another sister remains hospitalized and is fighting the virus, according to family members.

The latest Kingfisher County death was one of six deaths statewide reported in Monday’s statistics from the Oklahoma State Department of Health.

(The OSDH does not report deaths by name, only gender and age range, and there is frequently a lag time between when deaths occur and when they are included in state statistics.)

The other three deaths in the county include two in a Hennessey nursing home and one in a Kingfisher nursing home.

The county had 70 active cases of COVID-19 as of Monday’s 11 a.m. update, with 646 total confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic and 571 reported as recovered.

Case counts for area cities and towns, reported by zip code, included: Cashion six active (47 confirmed, 41 recovered); Dover one active (38 confirmed, 37 recovered); Hennessey 15 active (206 confirmed, 189 recovered, two deaths); Kingfisher 37 active (279 confirmed, 241 recovered and one death); Loyal three active (16 confirmed, 13 recovered); Okarche 12 active (80 confirmed, 65 active and three deaths); Omega one active (six confirmed and five recovered).
