One-third of the finals field in the OSSAA Class 2A Game Day state championships consisted of local teams.

When the final standings were announced, Crescent was a first-time state champ and Cashion had finished third in the competition last Saturday at Moore High School.

Crescent won the state title with 257 points in the final round (See story on Page 1 of this edition).

Cashion was able to take third overall.

Crescent sat in fifth place with 522 points and Cashion second with 564 after the preliminary round.

Turpin led the event with 579.

Of the six teams that advanced to the finals, Crescent out-dueled them all with 257 points.

Turpin was the state runner-up with 251 and Cashion scored 240.

Cashion advanced to state with a regional runner-up finish the week before.

Turpin won the regional and Crescent was seventh.

The top-15 teams advance from the regional to state, though not every team that qualified competed.
