Curbside limb service Wednesday

Bullis Enterprises will start picking up curbside tree limbs in Hennessey starting Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Tree limbs must be curbside by Nov. 16, said Tiffany Tillman, town clerk.

The local company was hired by the town board Thursday night, and was the low bidder at $12,500 for up to 50 hours of work with a crew and equipment.

Other bidders on picking up tree limbs were Freedom Lawns of Hennessey, $15,250, and Silver Arc Welding & Construction, Enid $13,000.

Mickey Bullis of Bullis Enterprises was at the meeting. He agreed that if they were getting close to 45 hours he’d check withTillman to decide how much longer they should work.

The south end of town seems to have more limbs, he said.

“I liv e here and we want to do a good job, and work with people,” he told the board. “If somebody complains I want to know.”

He said he was going to run the equipment and they plan to be able to “reach out 19-feet ... we don’t want to get in a neighbor’s yard.”

Tillman said many people have used the temporary tree limb disposal area near the lagoons south of the dump grounds on Cemetery Rd.

She said the DEQ contacted her that afternoon to say that a complaint filed with them that the town was burning trash was closed.

Tillman said she’d talked with Carol Mewherter at Mewherter Tree Services and they will grind up the limbs deposited there. Gritz

Mayor Bert Gritz commended police and street employees for working together to clear streets of tree limbs after the ice storm.

Other board members at the meeting were Vice Mayor Clif Vogt, Keith Meek and Richard Simunek. Trustee Wes Hardin was absent.

Staff at the meeting included Town Clerk and Recording Clerk Kati Walters, Treasurer Teresa Weber, Police Chief Ed Cangiano, and Tillman.
