DHS Pinwheels for Child Abuse Prevention

By

KINGFISHER COUNTY Department of Human Services child welfare workers and members of the Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Response Team gathered to place pinwheels in the Kingfisher County Courthouse lawn last week to commemorate April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Currently, 45 county children are in DHS custody, an all-time high, Child Welfare Supervisor Marci Johnson said. In 2018, local workers investigated 115 reports of alleged abuse and-or neglect involving 203 children and 79 of those reports were substantiated. A total of nine county children were placed for adoption through DHS.
