Dobrovolny tops WTAMU meat eval contest
One of Kingfisher’s FFA students earned top honors recently at a prestigious career development event.
West Texas A&M University’s department of agricultural sciences hosted an invitational contest on its campus March 29.
Kingfisher’s Lane Dobrovolny was the highest scoring individual out of 158 competitors in the meat evaluation contest, earning him a $1,000 WTAMU scholarship.
Five states were represented at the WTAMU invitational and about 3,100 students were registered.
Kingfisher’s senior meat evaluation team also consists of Thomas Himes, Peyton Burns and Braden Burns.
Himes, a junior, was sixth, Peyton Burns was seventh and Braden Burns 14th.
The team also competed at Clarendon Community College in Clarendon, Texas, the following Saturday and won the team title.
Himes was second individually, Dobrovolny third, Braden Burns fifth and Peyton Burns ninth.
