Dover, Hennessey, Loyal all see January tax bump

Hennessey, Dover and Loyal led local municipalities in sales tax gains for January.

Kingfisher County also had an increase in its January sales tax check compared to January a year ago. (See accompanying chart for additional details.)

The January distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from November business.  Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from November 16 to November 30 and estimated sales from December 1 to December 15.

The O.T.C. disbursement of $164,563,429 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $10,914,363 from the $153,649,066 distributed to the cities and towns in January last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $23,910,502.

In county returns, the counties shared in a $28,803,038 sales tax disbursement and a $4,667,029 use tax disbursement.

The tax commission related that Hennessey’s sales and use tax rose to 4 percent Feb. 1 from the old rate of 3.5 percent.

Use tax collections for area municipalities for January 2019 compared to last January follow with the 2019 amount list first:

Cashion – $8,494.39 and $6,250.22.

Crescent –$6,193.75 and $3,468.74

Dover – $3,743.51 and $14,596.42. Hennessey – $13,199.45 and $9,788.97. Kingfisher – $58,167.70 and $67,740.60. Okarche – $27,809.08 and $16,823.09. Watonga – $234,490.08 and $19,187.92 Kingfisher County – $312,717.63 and $165,152.84.
