Dover votes to build new elementary
Dover school district patrons voted to approve a $15.6 million construction bond issue by an overwhelming majority last week.
The bond issue passed by a margin of nearly 84%(117 yes to 23 no votes) and will finance the construction of a 35,433 squarefoot extension from the north end of the new high school.
In addition to elementary classrooms, the building will house a center library/media center that will double as a community storm shelter, and a practice gym/multipurpose room.
“We’re grateful to our district patrons who continue to support our efforts to provide the best learning environments for their children,” Supt. Max Thomas said.
The school board will meet Monday night to approve Sept. 23 as the official date for sale of the bonds.
