Early voting starts Thursday

By

Early voting begins this week for the April 4 board of education and municipal elections.

The early voting period is from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 30, and Friday, March 31, at the MACenter Building at the Kingfisher County Fairgrounds.

There is no early voting on Saturday or next Monday.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, the day of the election.

Board of education races inside of Kingfisher County will be decided in Kingfisher, Dover and Okarche.

There are also municipal seats up for grabs in Okarche and Hennessey as well as the town clerk position in Okarche.

Voters in the county also fall inside of districts that can see them deciding elections in Crescent, Cimarron and Okeene school board races as well as that of Piedmont’s mayor.

Sample ballots can be downloaded using the State Election Board’s OK Voter Portal at oklahoma.gov/elections/ ovp or by picking up a copy at the Kingfisher County Election Board office.

The office is located in Room 8 of the county courthouse at 101 S. Main St. in Kingfisher. It is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Sample ballots will also be posted outside each voting precinct on election day.

County Election Board Secretary Shawna Butts reminds voters that ballots are specific to each person.

“If the OK Voter Portal indicates that you have no sample ballots, it means you are not eligible to vote in an upcoming election,” Butts said.

“We recommend checking the OK Voter Portal to make sure you have an election before heading to the polls.
