Easter egg hunt in July?
Because fireworks at Christmas started out as a happy accident that placed Kingfisher on the map, some Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce board members are hopeful that Easter in July might prove just as popular.
The Kingfisher Chamber of Commerce is postponing its annual Easter egg hunt, originally scheduled for Saturday, in compliance with CDC, state and city guide lines for social distancing.
A downtown curbside alternative dreamed up by Chamber Director Shauna Rupp and board members also has been nixed in the wake of the city of Kingfisher’s stay-at-home mandate adopted last week.
“So now we are going back to the creative drawing board,” Rupp said. “We are penciling in the possibility of an Egg-stravagant Fourth of July.”
“Looking on the bright side, our nontraditional use of fireworks at the Christmas parade turned out to be a great big hit,” board member Morgan Winters added.
Rupp told local residents to stay tuned for more details on upcoming events the chamber is hosting, as well as a “recovery campaign,” for regaining economic stability once the pandemic passes.
“The chamber will continue to do all it can to urge people to shop local, spend local and love local,” Rupp said.
