Elks honor Sanders, more local grads
Emily Sanders became just the sixth person from Kingfisher to be awarded the Elks National Foundation Legacy Award.
With the award came a $4,000 scholarship, which she was presented May 4 during the 2021 Kingfisher Elks Lodge Honors Banquet.
The annual banquet recognizes the county’s honors graduates and presents a number of scholarships.
Sanders, the daughter of Chad and Shelley Sanders, recently graduated from Epic Charter School.
While being active in a number of volunteer duties and also pursuing her passion of singing and songwriting, Sanders was named to the National Honor Society, served on the Oklahoma state superintendent’s advisory council and was a Next Gen Under 30 award winner, among several other accomplishments.
