Elves busy with Toyland

By

Brittney Hladik, right, Kingfisher City Clerk, and volunteer for Santa’s Toyland, a program that allows children of qualified Kingfisher area families in need to receive Christmas presents each year, was the guest speaker of the Kingfisher Lions Club last week.  Hladik, who has been actively involved in the program for many of the 40 years of its existence, reported that 277 area children received Christmas gifts through the program in 2018, with the average gift price of $100 per child.  She said applications for receiving gifts may be picked up at Kingfisher City Hall.  The program is now under the umbrella of the Kingfisher Community Collaborative, an organization in which Hladik serves as co-chairperson  The Lions Club presented Santa’s Toyland with a check for $500 at the conclusion of the presentation. Anyone interested in making a donation of any size can do so by dropping a check by City Hall during normal business hours.  Also present for the meeting but not pictured was Santa’s Toyland volunteer Mandy Clifton.  Pictured with Hladik is Kingfisher Lions Club member Karen Hauser.
