Enid motorcyclist hurt in crash, flown to OKC
An Enid man was flown to OU Medical Center Thursday morning where he was admitted in stable condition after losing control of his motorcycle four miles south of Hennessey on U.S. 81.
Michael Ray Hicks, 43, was first transported by Life EMS to a section of Mitchell Road east of Hennessey High School, where he was loaded into an Air Evac helicopter from Kingfisher and flown to the Oklahoma City hospital.
Hicks was traveling south on U.S. 81 on a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan motorcycle about 11 a.m. when he braked at a congested intersection and swerved to the right, turning the motorcycle onto its side, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report.
Hicks suffered head, trunk, arm and leg injuries after he was separated from the motorcycle during the crash. He was not wearing a helmet, according to the report.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation by OHP Trooper Sammy Lee of the Kingfisher County detachment.
Lee was assisted at the scene by Trooper Tanner Beckner, Hennessey Police Department, Kingfisher County Sheriff’s Office, Life EMS and Air Evac.
HPD closed off a portion of Mitchell Road to allow the Air Evac helicopter to land and take off again.
