Excise board approves county budget

The Kingfisher County Excise Board approved the county 2025 fiscal year budget of $44,044,257.66 Wednesday, up from the F.Y. 24 budget of $37,657,601.54.

The budget will be financed with 10 mills of ad valorem tax plus carry- over from the preceding year’s budget.

One mill equals $1 in tax per $1,000 of taxable value (assessment) on real property inside county limits.

The budget will be met with a $38,899,620.69 balance carried over from the preceding year, plus $5,144,636.97 from ad valorem tax.

(Ed. Note: Kingfisher County customarily carries over a hefty surplus from one year to the next in order not to require additional tax from property owners.)

Amounts for county offices approved for the 2025 F.Y. budget compared with the preceding year listed second follow: District attorney – $20,000 and $26,760.

Sheriff – $1,957,506.07 and $1,434,678.

Treasurer – $403,000 and $312,000.

County commissioners –

$161,000 and $180,000.

County Clerk – $414,000 and $381,045.69.

Court Clerk –

$430,133.16 and

$240,100.55.

Assessor – $385,516 and

$402,574.72.

Visual Inspection –

$659,024 and $772,830.

General government – $39,01,217.25 and

$33,037,994.35.

Excise-equalization –

$10,000 and $7,500.

Election board – $129,121.18 and

$157,631.37.

County purchasing –

$96,000 and $82,000.

Emergency Management – $244,800 and

$457,563.86.

Charity - $5,000 and

$5,000.
