Extension hosts cake decorating workshop
Kingfisher County Extension hosted a basic cake decorating workshop for the members of the community on May 14.
The class was held at the Kingfisher County Extension Office. Lindy Hoel, the FCS educator, was the instructor and provided materials for the class.
Hoel discussed different tips and terminology of cake decorating. She showed the class the examples of the cupcakes they were going to create and walked through the steps on how to do the basic swirl seen on store-bought cupcakes.
She then proceeded to guide the participants on how to mix their icing colors, how to fill the bag, and how to put the tips in the bags. Lastly, she showed participants how to create a succulent and cactus cupcake design.
There were 10 participants at the workshop.
“Each participant had a lot of fun learning how to find the right control to create beautiful cupcakes and took home three decorated cupcakes,” Hoel said.
This workshop was part of the Monthly Cooking Workshop Series.
“The workshop for next month will teach the participants how to create ‘surprise’ centers with candy and shapes in the middle of a cake, cupcake or bread,” Hoel added.
